Currently, all of the shows are on Bravo, a subsidiary of NBC. In a press release, NBC local media president John Wallace said,
And by coming to broadcast television stations in daytime, this series will appeal to a new audience that is looking for something that stands out from the pack.

Sounds like a trial balloon to replace soaps.

wow...genius idea for the networks, terrible news for daytime soaps as we know them! Wonder what ABC may have up it's sleeve.

Didn't you hear? A freakin' talk show with a host that test markets well in the proper demos...

I heard Wendy Williams talk about this yesterday. I love LOVE the New Jersey Housewives. It's soapy and good.
You know for a fact ABC will jump on this. Soapnet is nothing but a reality network now anyway except for that great Being Erica which I love.
By next year they will be showing Holidate in OLTL's timeslot.

I wouldn't worry too much. All of the versions combined barely total 100 episodes -- that's 20 weeks compared, less than half a season. What are they going to repeat them almost three times in one year? Flop.

I agree with DenverDean, I don't think ABC or CBS has a thing to worry about.

I think Days has something to worry about if these repeats do better they'll be canceled.

I love "The Real Housewives," but I've seen all of them and can watch reruns on Bravo.
I'll pass.
Now, I'd be game if they had a daily version of fresh episodes.
They, more than likely, would have to have a city for each day to get me to watch. Monday, "The Real Housewives of Kansas City." Tuesday, "The Real Housewives of Miami," Wednesday, "The Real Housewives of Cincinnati, Thursday, "The Real Housewives of Compton," Friday, "The Real Housewives of Honolulu.
Yeah. I'd watch that. ESPECIALLY the Compton one! HAHA!

I doubt that these shows would air five days a week and all year round like soaps currently do. In fact, I think in a few years, soaps will still be around (but not the current ones, with the exception of Days of Our Lives, which tends to attract a younger audience), but won't be airing five days a week, all year round either. I believe that networks will switch to a schedule where a soap may have a 13 week season, and then they'll show something like the Real Housewives for 13 weeks, and then the soap will come back for its next season run of 13 weeks. Or, the soap will air between 1 to 3 times a week, and the other days the networks will air other programming like talk shows, game shows, or the Real Housewives.

I agree the fact these are repeats not new episodes, so eventually they will be repeating themselves. But I also agree that Days is in trouble if the repeats do better than their soap. I am in that age group, and I don't get the appeal of the "Housewives," but to each is own.

The cost for these reruns - just like the cost for Let's Make a Deal - have to be much cheaper than the production costs for a soap. If the networks can garner close to the ratings that they get now for soaps - and the advertisers don't balk - this is likely going to be the wave of the future. If a product which is much cheaper to produce can perform the same for the network, they would be crazy to elect to keep the more expensive product on air. Networks have proven that they have no emotional ties to soaps and that decisions are made strictly on a financial basis. Appears that the soap model is no longer viable.

I just hate how untalented fame "wanters" will eventually take over all of network tv. What happened to people actually being talented and famous?
