By Johnathon on January 11, 2010

Simon Cowell announced today at a TCA session with FOX executives that he is in fact leaving American Idol this season. The superstar also announced that FOX has secured rights to a USA adaptation of The X Factor which will be premiering fall 2011.
Are you sad to see Simon go? Or is a change just what the show needed?

Many will be sad once they see the absence of Cowell on the show. But we will see if that will affect the show’s rating all in all. You know, so far I am completely underwhelmed by American Idol Season 9. I haven't seen much that has really caught my attention. I find myself changing channels – Simon wasn't even that much of a jerk to people, and that's the only good reason to watch the thing! I'm certainly not going to get out the credit cards or get payday loans to go see it live. The contestants are all very sort of…plain and vanilla, and banality, even in a pop singer (which is usually their claim to fame), is not something that should be rewarded. I think Am Idol is close to, if it hasn't already, jumping the shark..
