Friday Night Lights Ends at Season Five

Before season four even kicks off on NBC, the word is out that Friday Night Lights will be ending its run after season five. According to Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello,

Although an NBC rep insists no official decision on FNL’s future has been made, I’m told the network has informed the show’s cast that they’re free to pursue other work after production on season 5 wraps in June.

There are not enough words in the English vocabulary to express my love for FNL, so this news obviously brings a tear to my eye. Friday Night Lights’  fourth season finishes it’s run on DirecTV tonight and will premiere on NBC April 30. That's plenty of time for those of you who still think it’s "just a show about football" to let me prove you wrong!

Is Next Season the Last for Friday Night Lights?

Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello reports that NBC may finally pull the plug on Friday Night Lights after it stops filming in June. Says Ausiello,

Although an NBC rep insists no official decision on FNL’s future has been made, I’m told the network has informed the show’s cast that they’re free to pursue other work after production on season 5 wraps in June. And while the news is sure to make you — and, more importantly, me — sad, this cloud is chockablock with silver linings.

Taylor Kitsch Leaving Friday Night Lights

It's a sad day for Panther football fans! Taylor Kitsch (Tim Riggins) will not be returning when Friday Night Lights begins production on its next season. The news was first reported by E! Online's Watch With Kristin. This does not come as a huge surprise considering his character, Tim Riggins graduated high school at the end of season three, but that doesn't make the news hurt any less!

Fans of Kitsch can keep an eye out for one of his many film projects set to be hitting a theater near you, and don't count out a return to Friday Night Lights just yet. Despite certain graduated seniors lack of homecoming storylines this season on FNL, there is always the chance Riggins may pop up in Dillon again.
