CW Renews Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210 and More

The CW has renewed Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural and America's Next Top Model, according to The Live Feed. No official word on Melrose Place, Smallville, One Tree Hill and Life Unexpected.

Stephen Martines Joins Vampire Diaries as "Bad-Ass" Vampire

Former General Hospital star Coltin Scott Stephen Martines (ex-Nikolas) is joining The CW's Vampire Diaries in a recurring role as a "bad-ass" vampire Frederick, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kelli Giddish's Past Life Premieres Tuesday on Fox

Past Life, the new Fox drama starring All My Children alum Kelli Giddish premieres Tuesday in the plum slot after American Idol. I can't wait to watch it because I thoroughly enjoyed Giddish's potrayal of Di Henry on AMC and the trailer(s)–which you can watch after the jump–look really good.

Now here's a reason to tune back into Desperate Housewives if you've had a falling out with the show. Torchwood's John Barrowman is joining the cast of ABC's hit series for at least five episodes, according to EW.com's Michael Ausiello. Reportedly he will be at the center of Angie's (Drea de Matteo) mystery.
Syfy Renews Stargate Universe and Sanctuary

Syfy has picked up Stargate Universe and Sanctuary for their first and third seasons respectively, according to The Live Feed. Both series, which have anchored Syfy's Friday lineup this fall, have been decent, but not great this season. Critics' gripes that Stargate Universe feels more like a Battlestar Galactica knockoff than a member of the Stargate franchise isn't without merit. Universe also suffers from an intense need of an external "alien" threat to liven things up. Character development and internal SG conflicts are great, but even Battlestar Galactica–which excelled in both areas–knew how to incorporate battling the Cylons and human uprisings into their storylines. NBC Announces Midseason Schedule

NBC has announced its midseason programming schedule. Chuck returns on January 11 while the anticipated Parenthood makes its debut on March 1. NBC's other new series, The Marriage Ref will be paired with The Celebrity Apprentice on Sundays, beginning March 14. See the full schedule after the jump.

It’s countdown to Heather Locklear on Melrose Place and The CW is making as big PR push, including a Donning Anew the Miniskirt of a Predator by the New York Times.
Tuesday's episode wasn't that explicit, but they are heating up as we get ever closer to Amanda’s return. The police raided Auggie’s apartment searching for additional evidence against Auggie, but he was nowhere to be found. Of course Melrose Place’s Gossip Girl equivalent to Vanessa, Riley, has been in contact with him even as her relationship with Jonah continued to hit speed bumps. READ MORE
Foxy Brown Comes to Smallville

Pam Grier is about to pump up her resume by appearing in several episodes of Smallville, according to Michael Ausiello at EW.com. Grier, who gained fame in the blaxploitation flicks of the 70s, will star in the series as Agent Amanda Waller, of DC Comics fame. Grier has experienced a career reboot in the last decade or so beginning with 1997's Jackie Brown, and more recently The L-Word. READ MORE

We've been told that Leven's character features heavily in the Nov. 19 episode, titled "Holidaze," and that during the course of that episode (which spans several weeks of story time), Mark (Eric Dane) and Lexie (Chyler Leigh) must cope with the shocking arrival of a woman from his past.READ MORE
